Warning - Explosives!
'I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes ...'
Romans 1:16
Preaching from the Word of God is rather like handling explosives. The 'gospel' or 'good news' about Jesus is the 'dunamis' of God. Our modern word 'dynamite' comes from this root.
The gospel is God's explosive power resulting in salvation for everyone who believes. Salvation means more than 'pie in the sky when you die' ... it's about God bringing wholeness to every part of our being ... beginning in the here and now and ending in eternity.
Explosives have to be treated with great respect and handled carefully. If used correctly they can achieve a real breakthrough but used carelessly they can do much harm. So it is with the word of God.
'Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.'
2 Timothy 2:15
