A Lamp that Burned 

John was a lamp that burned and gave light, and you chose for a time to enjoy his light.  John 5:35

• The Passion in John’s soul …

• The Preparation through John’s Baptism …

• The Witness to the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world …

• The Decreasing of self that Christ might increase … 

All of this gave light to darkened hearts and clouded vision, in order that men and women might receive their promised Messiah, when he appears on the banks of Jordan.
