I saw Satan Fall!
He replied, "I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven". Luke 10:18
In this chapter, Jesus sends out 72 of his disciples to do Kingdom work.
They return declaring that the mission has been a success, with even the demons being defeated.
Jesus remarks 'I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven'.
I have often thought about that.
When did Jesus see Satan fall like lightening from heaven?
Was it in a past eternity, when the angelic fall took place, resulting in Satan and his angels being cast out of God's presence?
Yes ... maybe
Or is Jesus looking back to his own incarnation?
Yes ... maybe.
Or is he prophesying the cross, resurrection, ascension, or even his own return?
Yes ... maybe.
The verse is literally 'I was watching Satan fall from heaven like lightening'.
The tense is imperfect, suggesting a continuous past.
Could it be that Jesus has been watching the event happen on an almost ongoing basis?
This leads us to an amazing thought.
Remember, the context of this chapter is the 72 going out at Jesus' command, to heal the sick and preach the good news of the Kingdom.
Was he referring to the amazing victories that his disciples had been witness to as they ministered?
Yes ... maybe.
Could it be that every time a believer builds Kingdom, in Jesus Name, Satan falls all over again!
As the Kingdom advances,
Satan's kingdom retreats,
diminishes, reduces.
In this way Satan keeps falling, falling, falling....
like lightening ... continuously, powerfully, spectacularly!
Let's build Kingdom today!!
